WHAT IS PHILOSOPHY?

 WHAT IS PHILOSOPHY?

Philosophy is the method that, starting from reflection (questions), yields an intuition of new knowledge. Philosophy is based on reasoning. The branches of Philosophy are: Logic and Gnoseology or Epistemology, which study knowledge; Metaphysics and Ontology, which study Being; Ethics, which studies moral values; Aesthetics, which studies beauty; History of Philosophy; and finally, Philochrony. Philochrony describes the nature of time and demonstrates its existence. Philochrony emerged on March 13, 2009. The main philosophers in history are: Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, René Descartes, Immanuel Kant, John Locke, David Hume, Friedrich Hegel, Friedrich Nietzsche, Martin Heidegger, Jean-Paul Sartre, and Michel Foucault. The main currents of philosophy are idealism and materialism. Idealism can be objective (Plato) and subjective (George Berckely). Materialism can be mechanistic (Ludwig Feuerbach) and dialectical (Karl Marx). Philosophy originated in ancient Greece with the ideas of Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle.

Note: This is a personal summary of philosophy.

MATHEMATICAL DEFINITION OF TIME

Mathematics is an important tool in Physics. That is why time is defined as the physical magnitude that continually increases in value due to becoming and is used to measure the duration of things. In the calendar the days pass increasing the length of the year. In clocks the hours and minutes pass increasing the length of the days. Physicists apply mathematics to natural phenomena to explain reality or the universe. Becoming is the continuous succession of irreversible changes that go from the past to the future through the present. The becoming can be simple or periodic. With the passage of days and years we increase our age. Age is a simple becoming while in clocks we see a periodic becoming.

THE QUALITIES OF TIME (Edition)

Becoming, duration and periodicity These three qualities are inherent to time. Becoming is the continuous succession of irreversible changes that go from the past to the future through the present. We perceive becoming as a succession of moments. Duration is becoming delimited by a beginning and an end. Periodic phenomena are those that are always repeated in the same order and have the same duration. In short, time is the physical magnitude that continually increases in value due to becoming and is used to measure the duration of things. Natural periodic phenomena are the year (translation) and the day (rotation). Artificial periodic phenomena are the month, the week, the hour, the minute and the second. Clocks measures time by counting periodic phenomena. Time is not a dimension as Relativity suggests because we cannot point to the future or the past. Time is a state of things. Like new or old.

SOUND-TIME: ANALOGY

An analogy is the relation of similarity between two different things. Continuity is to duration what tone is to frequency in sound. These processes are objective. Continuity is the union between the points of a line without interruption between a beginning and an end. Continuity is also the occurrence without interruption of an event or phenomenon. Continuity tells us the magnitude of the duration, just as tone tells us the height of the frequency. Continuity is present in the three qualities of time: becoming, duration and units of measurement. In time there is continuity between the different moments of a phenomenon. If we perceive becoming, can we perceive continuity? Yeah. What we cannot perceive are two sequential moments as simultaneous.

THE TRUE NATURE OF TIME 2

THE QUALITIES OF TIME

Time is the magnitude or physical quantity that continually increases in value due to becoming. In the sound-time analogy, sound is characterized by having 3 qualities: tone, intensity and timbre. Time also has 3 qualities: becoming, duration and units of measurement. Becoming is the continuous succession of irreversible changes that go from the past to the future through the present. Duration (Alpha and  Omega) is the interval between two sequential moments, one of which is the beginning and the other is the end. Units of measurement are periodic phenomena. Periodic phenomena are those that always repeat in the same order and have the same duration. These can be natural (year and day) and artificial (month, week, hour, minute and second). Of the 3 qualities of time, only becoming is perceptible. They are all objective because time does not require an observer to exist as Aristotle believed.

THE TRUE NATURE OF TIME 1

Time is the magnitude or physical quantity that:

1) It increases continuously because becoming is unstoppable. The material basis of time is becoming.

2) It is measured through periodic phenomena. Periodic phenomena are those that always repeat in the same order and with the same duration.

3) It is imperceptible. The moments are sequential and are not perceived simultaneously. We can only intuit time. Intuition is the mental faculty of suddenly perceiving an object or its qualities through reflection.

4) It is objective. Time exists without the need for anyone to measure it, as Aristotle thought. Time is present in all areas of reality.

This is the conclusion that the Philochrony offers about the true nature of time. The concepts of becoming-time and magnitive time are derived from the nature of time.

THE FORMS OF BECOMING

Becoming is the continuous succession of irreversible changes that go from the past to the future through the present. The forms of becoming are duration, time and eternity or religious

Duration is the becoming delimited by a beginning and an end. Time is periodic becoming. Eternity is becoming without end. According to Religion, with death we go from time to eternity. Over time we obtain the units and measurements of duration.

The forms of becoming are equivalent to:

 1) The forms of knowledge: sensory and rational

 2) The states of matter: solid, liquid, gas and plasma

 3) The forms of movement: rectilinear and curvilinear

For some people time is a human construct (it does not exist), but time is based on becoming which is real and tangible.

To know and accept these ideas is to be in harmony with the universe.
