IS TIME AN ILLUSION?

An illusion is a false perception of reality, brought about by specific characteristics of a stimulus. Time cannot be an illusion, as it gives rise to at least four consequences:

1. The growth and development of living beings.

 2. Aging

3. Material deterioration.

4. The replacement of the old by the new.

Physicists claim that time is reversible because, in the equations of calculus, the same result is obtained regardless of the direction of time. The illusion lies within the equations themselves, for in reality, time is not reversible. An egg that falls to the ground does not rise back up and reassemble itself. People do not revert from old age to childhood. A river always flows from the mountains to the sea—never the other way around. In general, the equations of calculus can be sources of illusions.

Another illusion that emerges from the equations of relativity is "spacetime," given that, in reality, these are two independent entities. Spacetime was a mathematical device employed by Albert Einstein to demonstrate that gravity is not a force, but rather a curvature of spacetime. Albert Einstein did not win the Nobel Prize for his Theory of Relativity; it is said that the person tasked with reviewing it failed to grasp it—or, rather, that this individual concluded that the General Theory of Relativity was an illusion.
