THE LAW OF DURATION

1) Everything that happens has a beginning, a "life" and an end. In other words, nothing lasts forever.

2) This law applies in the past, in the present and in the future.

3) This law is an universal and absolute principle.

4) This law states that changes happen continuously and irreversibly.

5) This law prevents events from occurring backwards. For example, there is no rejuvenation.

6) This law prevents time travel. These journeys are only possible in science fiction.

7) This law is inexorable or relentless. There is no way to stop duration.

8) This law is represented by the parallelochron.

9) This law applies in all sciences: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Astronomy, etc.

10) This law gives rise to time which is the magnitude that measures the duration and separation of events.

EXAMPLES OF THE SCOPE OF THE LAW OF DURATION.

1) The law of duration governs the origin and disappearance of animal and plant species.

2) Also this law governs the birth and death of the planets and stars. And of course of living beings.

3) This law also governs all daily activities performed by the human being.

THE PARALLELOCHRON IS THE TEMPORAL STRUCTURE OF THE UNIVERSE

Time is the magnitude that measures the duration or separation of events. Duration is the continuous succession of irreversible changes (phenomena) delimited by a beginning and an end. The duration can be regular rhythm (time) and irregular rhythm. These durations pass simultaneously constituting the Parallelochron. Regular duration or time is based on the periodic phenomena. The Parallelochron represents the temporal structure of the universe.

In the Big Bang originated first duration and then time when the first periodic phenomena appeared.

STAGE OF UNKNOWN TIME

Augustine of Hippo said: If no one asks me what time is I know, but if anyone asks me I cannot explain it. For many people time is an illusion and for others time exists but has no explanation. The english physicist Isaac Newton compared time to the current of a river in which everything happens. This is the stage of unknown time.

Since the appearance of the magnitive concept, on September 16, 2017, time has ceased to be unknown to become a known concept. From then time is defined as the magnitive amount of the extension of the sequential intervals (begining-end). Time is no longer a physical magnitude. Time is measured by counting periodic phenomena.

Magnitive is the concept that groups the three qualities of time:

1) Clocks measure past and future time (measurable).

2) Time is imperceptible and unobservable by physical equations.

3) Time exists independently of  consciousness (objective).

I have come to these conclusions by employing thought experiments for 16 years.

MAGNITIVISM VS PRESENTEEISM

(This article is a continuation of the previous post)

Magnitivism is the doctrine that opposes Presenteeism in relation to the existence of time. According to Presenteeism, time does not exist because we only perceive the present. The past are only memories and the future are expectations. The past and the future are only illusions.

For Magnitivism time is real because the sequential intervals are objective. The term Magnitivism is derived from the word magnitive and the suffix ism (doctrine)

Presenteeism puts its emphasis on the changes and facts of reality. Magnitivism places its emphasis on the mathematical aspect of time. Between two sequential events there is an interval that can be measured. This interval is objective, real. The year 2021 is real because it measures the interval between the present and the birth of Christ. The time measures the interval between a moment of the day and midnight or noon.

Note:

Look for information about the magnitive concept in the previous posts.

DIAGRAM OF THE MAGNITIVE TIME. MAGNITIVISM VS PRESENTEEISM

The magnitive time diagram exposes the different solutions to the problem of time on whether it exists or not.

The magnitive time is (changing the order of the characteristic): measurable, imperceptible and objective.

THE DIMENSION OF TIME (RAO)

The dimension of time is the Referential Activity Occurred (RAO).

A dimension of space is the direction in which the length of a body or figure is measured. A 3D body has length, height and width. A coordinate axis has a horizontal line, a vertical line, and a transverse line.

The RAO is obtained from the measurement of the Earth movements: rotation (day) and translation (year). The time is the relation between a moment and a day. The date is the relation between a day and a year. All events and phenomena are referred to the RAO for their location in time.

The facts of reality happen and pass, but the RAO remains. The RAO is the fourth dimension of the universe.

Note:

Time is the continuous succession of irreversible changes whose dimension is the RAO, from the past to the future.  Clock is the physical-mathematical representation of the RAO.

THE NATURE OF SPACE AND TIME

1) For Immanuel Kant, space and time are a priori categories of knowledge. Subjective time.

2) For the Theory of Relativity time is the fourth dimension of space.

3) Space and time are related because they are composed by intervals.

4) Space and time are objective and independent.

5) The space intervals are length and distance.

6) The time interval is duration, which is objective and imperceptible (magnitive).

7) Clocks measure time indicating when the intervals begin and when end (beginning and end). This is an objective measure; it cannot be an illusion. Although it is obvious, in one minute 60 seconds pass, in one hour 60 minutes or 3,600 seconds pass and in a day 24 hours or 1,440 minutes pass.

8) Time is the continuous succession of irreversible changes. Clocks measure time intervals or duration.

9) The proof that time exists is that we know for sure when an interval begins and when ends. Not in vain we celebrate the arrival of a new year, our birthday, etc.

Elvis Sibilia, Florida, USA

TIME IS SELF-MEASURABLE

Time is the continuous change that occurred between a beginning and an end. Time connects two sequential moments (before and after). Time is the physical magnitude that measures itself (it is self-measurable). The time of rotation and translation of the earth was adjusted by nature (day and year). Man created and adjusted clocks to divide the day into hours (24), minutes and seconds. The observer only records the days, years and measurements of clock, but these are given by the nature of time. It is not as Aristotle thought that time does not exist if there is no soul to measure it.

In length and mass the observer intervenes in their measurements, but time is always being measured.

Now the magnitive time is: objective, imperceptible (intervals) and self-measurable. It does not need consciousness to exist.

THE MAGNITIVE KNOWLEDGE

In general, knowledge is the reflection in the human brain of the qualities of objects and phenomena. In Philosophy there are two kinds of knowledge: sensory and rational. The sensory knowledge is: particular, concrete and immediate. The rational knowledge is: general, abstract, mediate and linked to language. The new magnitive knowledge is based on measurements of time (clocks and calendars). The magnitive knowledge is: objective, mediate and mathematical.

BACK TO PHYSICS

Length is the physical quantity that indicates the length of a body or figure. Mass is the physical quantity that indicates the amount of matter that a body has. Time is the physical magnitude that indicates the length of the phenomena (objectives). But phenomena are irreversible successions of changes that go from a beginning to an end (interval), so that time increases continuously. We visualize time through its measurements.

One of the great achievements of Physics was to measure an imperceptible (magnitive) magnitude. This was made possible by natural (objective) periodic phenomena. These phenomena are the means by which the existence of time is proven. The clock represents the rotation cycle of the Earth.

You have to learn to think about magnitude time: objective, imperceptible (intervals) and measurable (duration). Time is not only imperceptible, it is unobservable by mathematical equations.

Elvis Sibilia, Florida, USA

DOES NO-TIME EXIST?

In no-time there is no movement, nothing changes, everything is paralyzed. An observer in no-time, besides that he could not move, could not see or hear, because light and sound would be frozen.

Time is the inherent property of matter to move and change limited by a beginning and an end (interval). To deny the existence of time is to deny that the universe moves and also to deny its evolution over billions of years.

Duration or age is the measure of time. One day signifies and represents the entire process involved in the rotation of the Earth. By analogy, a triangle represents all objects that have that shape.

We know about the existence of time from its three essential aspects:

1) Continuous and irreversible changes and movement.

2) Sequential intervals with a beginning and an end. They are objective and imperceptible. By reasoning we infer that between the beginning and the end there is a sequential line whose length can be measured. This sequential line is similar to the video progress bar.

3) Periodic and repeatable phenomena (measurements).

Elvis Sibilia, Florida, USA

IF IT IS MEASURABLE THEN IT EXISTS

Time is the continuous succession of irreversible changes that go from beginning to end. The measurement of time is duration. Over time (a physical magnitude) changes and events pass, but the record of their measurement (duration) remains. The past has been measured and the future is being measured in the present. Duration is represented in physical equations by the letter t.

The age of a person, a tree or a planet is the record of their times respectively (duration). We can affirm that the past and the future do not exist, but the duration is real.

The magnitive time is: objective, imperceptible (intervals) and measurable (duration). Magnitive means a physical magnitude imperceptible to the human being.

If a property is measurable, it is because it exists. The measurement of time (duration) is the evidence that it exists.

THE PRINCIPLE OF CAUSALITY IN PHILOCHRONY

Causality is the principle that relates two sequential events: one the cause and the other the effect. To the cause always follows the effect and the effect precedes the cause. This is an absolute principle. All observers will see the cause-effect sequence and never the other way around: effect-cause. For example: All observers will see the egg fall and then break, they will never see it break and then rise and recompose.

The principle of causality explains the arrow of time: cause-effect direction. Even the same time is subject to this principle: changes-intervals. No changes (cause), no intervals (effects). The law of cause and effect is the law of time. For example: the rotation of the Earth (cause) generates the day, 24 hours (effect).

WHAT IS GEOCHRONY?

Geochrony is the study and interest in the report of the world climate and time. Meteorology is the science that describes the atmospheric conditions of a certain area or region.

As an example of Geochrony, let's look at the case of Murmansk, a city in northwestern Russia.

Murmansk is located at latitude: 68° 58' N and longitude: 33° 05' E.

The following data is taken from the cell phone weather application.

1) May 4, 7:19 PM

2) Temperature range: 4 / -3.

3) Precipitation: 5%. Cloudy.

4) UV Index: Low.

5) Sunrise: 3:16 AM.

6) Sunset: 10:16 PM.

7) Humidity: 73%.

Elvis Sibilia, Florida, USA

WHAT ARE SPACE AND TIME?

1) Space and time are not physical entities because they are intangible. This is completely obvious.

2) For Emmanuel Kant, space and time are a priori categories of knowledge that allow us to organize objects and phenomena in a given place and time.

3) For the Theory of Relativity, space and time form a 4-dimensional structure where events occur.

4) Matter, energy, and motion are physical entities because they are tangible.

5) For the Philochrony, space and time are independent objective entities that allow the organization of bodies and events in a given place and time.

6) Bodies move in space (3D) with a certain duration (time).

7) The concept of space-time is the result of multiplying time by the speed of light, thus converting time into a supposed "dimension of space". But in time we cannot move backwards as in space. In other words, time cannot be a dimension of space. Time only flows forward, never backward.

THE D3 PARALLELOCHRON

The types of duration are:

1) Regular, periodic and unlimited. Example: the movements of the Earth.

2) Regular, periodic and limited. Example: clocks.

3) Irregular, non-periodic and limited. Example: the life of living beings.

Time is the duration units system (DUS).

The statement: continuous succession of irreversible changes that go from a previous state to a later state becomes the definition of duration.

CONSPIRACY THEORIES ABOUT TIME

The purpose of conspiracy theories is to hide the truth with deception. Conspiracy theories generate a lot of views and money on YouTube and social media.

Some conspiratorial ideas about time are:

1) Time does not exist.

2) Time does not flow or does not pass.

3) Time is an illusion.

4) Time is invented by the brain.

5) The time machine.

Other conspiracy theories are:

1) The Earth is flat.

2) Man never reached the Moon.

3) Elvis Presley is alive.

Some want us to think that time does not exist to perpetuate oneself in power. That we believe that change is an illusion and that God is in control of events on Earth.

THE TIME LAWS

Philochrony, since its inception on March 13, 2009, has been in constant evolution. The Philochrony definition of time has been modified. This is the current definition of time: it is the continuous succession of irreversible changes that go from the past to the future. But the past and the future are mental concepts, they do not exist in reality. Therefore the above definition is not completely objective. The new definition proposes that time is the continuous succession of irreversible changes that go from an earlier state (E) to a later state (L).

From this definition the following laws arise:

1) E --> L

Unidirectional or irreversibility law.

2) E <> L

Difference or development law.

3) E --- L

Intervals law. Between E and L there will always be an interval.

These laws are fulfilled throughout the universe and cannot be violated by human beings.

For example, let's look at these laws in an hourglass.

1) Sand always falls from the upper bowl (E) to the lower bowl (L).

2) At the beginning (E) the upper receptacle contains more sand. But in the end (L) the bottom receptacle contains more sand.

3) The hourglass measures an interval.

COMPONENTS AND SYMBOL OF TIME

The components of the magnitive time are:

1- Changes: objective and perceptible.

2- Intervals: objective and imperceptible.

3- Periodic phenomena: they are the reference for the measurement of time.

Time is defined as the continuous succession of irreversible changes that go from the past to the future. Time is divided into intervals.

Time is similar to a coin, on the one hand we see the changes (obverse) and on the other we intuit the intervals (reverse).

SIGNIFIER, MEANING AND MODEL IN PHILOCHRONY

The signifier is the written or spoken word. The meaning is the definition or concept of the word. The model is the particular object to which the word refers.

The word time has been defined in various ways and clocks are taken as a model. We see clocks, but we don't see time. The model of the word time are not clocks, but is the sequential interval that flows in only one direction. This model is objective, but it is only known by intuition.

When we see the time we think of a measure, but we have to intuit its model. For example 4:25 PM. The model is the interval between 12:00 PM (beginning) and 4:25 PM (end).

ZERO-TIME ANALOGY

WHAT DOES ZERO REPRESENT?

1- The nothing

2- An amount.

3- A space

4- An absence

5- Other

Zero represents nothingness, an empty space or an absence. Zero is the opposite of quantity, however multiply the number to its left by ten.

Let's look at this example:

25

2_5

205

In 2_5 there is a zero which is then symbolized by a 0. In this case zero indicates that there are no tens.

ZERO-TIME ANALOGY

The past and the future are linear zeros that indicate the absence of beings, changes and events. Time is represented by a 1 (present) and two linear zeros, one past and one future.

   linear zero        linear zero

---------------- 1 ----------------->

       Past    present   Future

Everything to the left of 1 is past and everything to the right of 1 is future. The 1 represents now. Now we have two zeros: the positional zero and the linear zero. In Philosophy the 1 is the Being and the past and the future are non-Being.

Elvis Sibilia, Florida, USA

THE CHRONOVERSE

The Chronoverse is the cosmology of Philochrony. Let us remember the definition that Philochrony gives about time: it is the continuous succession of irreversible changes that goes from the past to the future (before-after). The past and the future are abstract entities. We abstract them from our experiences.

The universe before the Big Bang:

           Eternity

<------------------------->

The universe after the Big Bang

      BB           present

<---I--------------I---------------->

              past              future

The Big Bang was the passage from eternity to time. With the BB time was created.

SCHEME OF TIME DIVISION

In Philochrony, time is divided, for its study, into: time of duration (TD), time of sequential separation (TSS) and time of consciousness (TC). The TD measures the duration or age of beings from their beginning to their end. The TSS measures the distance between two sequential events or moments. The TC measures the psychological time. In TC, consciousness creates time.

The TD and the TSS are magnitive or physical. TC is subjective. Some thinkers who have supported the TC are: Aristotle, Immanuel Kant and Henry Bergson.

The word time, by itself, means sequential space, moment to moment and changes. The essential property of TD and TSS is their magnitivity.

Elvis Sibilia, Florida, USA

TIME AND ITS PERCEPTION

Previous note: Time is the rate at which changes occur from a beginning to an end. But only the constant and periodic rate is adequate as a measure (last definition).

We perceive time as an illusion because intervals are sequential. We perceive a beginning (before) and an end (after), but not both at the same time. This illusion seems to flow faster or slower depending on how old we are and what we experience is something pleasant or unpleasant. The FIT is the fast illusion of time (it seems shorter to us) and the SIT is the slow illusion of time (it seems longer to us). The IAT is the illusion adjusted to the measure of time. Remember that time is magnitive, it is not an illusion in itself. Clocks allow us to have a correct IAT. With clocks we synchronize the FIT and the SIT with the rate of the passage of time (constant and periodic). Tic tac tic tac tic tac ...

For its measurement, time (continuous) is divided into equal intervals (periodic).

In conclusion, we do not perceive the beginning and the end of an interval simultaneously. We do not perceive a material timeline. The length of this line is what we perceive as the illusion of time.

EXPERIMENTS WITH TIME

Is it possible to experiment with time?

An experiment is the practical test or examination carried out to study the properties of a phenomenon. Experiments are classified into: natural, field and laboratory.

Some examples of experiments are:

1- It is observed that living beings have a beginning (birth), a duration (development) and an end (death).

2- When we get older, time seems to flow faster.

3- It is observed in nature that some phenomena have an irregular duration and others phenomena have a regular duration.

4- In a clock with hands we observe that they travel the dial at a regular and periodic rhythm (changes).

5- The photon effect

For a photon traveling at the speed of light, time does not pass or does not exist. The photon has no "notion" of time. This photon "believes" that its journey through space has been instantaneous.

In conclusion:

We perceive changes or duration, but not time. The diversity of ways of perceiving duration has led many theorists to think that time is an illusion. In reality, time is magnitive in all frames of reference. Space isn't magnitive because is perceptible. Space-time originates from multiplying time by the speed of light. Space-time is a methematical trick.

ARISTOTLE AND PHILOCHRONY

Time according to Aristotle

For Aristotle, time is the measure of movement according to before and after. Time is what we measure changes with. For Aristotle what makes the measurement of time is the soul (mind). According to this philosopher the soul is an indispensable condition for the existence of time. If the mind did not exist, time would not exist. For Aristotle, time has no meaning if there were not someone to keep track of the changes.

There are many theories of time (Aristotle, Kant, Newton, Einstein, Heidegger, etc.), but only one theory of duration-time (Philochrony). Time exists in the duration of regular rhythm or in periodic phenomena. Before the human being existed the periodic phenomena existed (for example, the movements of the planets and stars).

Duration-time (D-T) is represented by the parallelochron and time in perspective. The basis of time is duration, it is not the space or the subject.

Elvis Sibilia, Florida, USA

TIME IN PERSPECTIVE

The scheme of tine in perspective is a modification of the parallelochron.

Elvis Sibilia, Florida, USA

EXPLANATION OF THE MAGNITIVE TIME

Since September 16, 2017 I am saying that the magnitive time is:

1- Objective: sequential occurrence of changes with a beginning and an end.
2- Imperceptible: We perceive the beginning before and the end after, but not both at the same time. We don't have a sense to do that.
3- Measurable: through the continuous occurrence of periodic phenomena. Time always presents us with a measure because periodic phenomena are always occurring.

Many people believe that time does not exist or is an illusion and this is because these people do not associate the objectivity of time with its imperceptibility.

Consider the minute hand on a clock. When the minute hand travels the entire dial, an hour has passed (or less time if the watch is moving at high speed). This is an objective process. We see the beginning before and the end after of the hour, but not both at the same time. We don't see time.

THE PRINCIPLE OF CERTAINTY

Duration is the continuous and sequential occurrence of changes from beginning to end. We perceive changes and we know that they have a beginning and an end. Time is the measure of duration.

We also realize that there are periodic phenomena. These phenomena allow us to predict with certainty when an hour, a day and a year will end. Even if we know the duration of a phenomenon we can predict its end.

The principle of certainty does not apply to the life of a human being. We know we are going to die, but we don't know when.

Time has three functions:

1- Determine the duration of things.

2- Determine the separation between two sequential events.

3- Allow to make predictions about when an event starts or ends.

In Quantum Mechanics the Certainty Principle contradicts Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle.
